More Information on this partner:

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology exists to provide an environment for teaching, research and entrepreneurship training in science and technology for the socio-economic development of Ghana, and Africa. Indeed, it is the foremost science and technology institution in Ghana driving the industrial development of the country.  The University has continued to explore avenues to make science and technology education accessible to all and also ensured its advancement through collaborations with industries and counterpart institutions abroad.  The University currently has collaborations with over 200 Institutions and Industries and a student population of 25,774, of which 3,904 are postgraduates. The faculty strength is 790.   It is currently ranked 19th in Africa and 1st in Ghana, according to Webometrics, web-based ranking of Universities in the world.  The University runs over 100 programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in science, applied-sciences, engineering and the humanities.

Role of the organisation in the project

The University has over the years supported the promotion of research and human resource and capacity building programmes such as the Erasmus Mundus (EM) Lot 10 Project.  Research and development are two major planks of the University’s Strategic Plan.  Efforts to promote the Intra-ACP Academic Mobility Scheme would therefore receive the needed attention and support from the University.  Currently, the University is running a postgraduate programme in GISNATUREM as part of programmes outlined under the EM Project.  Arrangements are also on course for the introduction of Exchange Courses to be run under the Project.  An office to coordinate activities under the EM Project has also been established.
